Hank Sheppard Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Rasberry Family Funeral Home - Houston on May 31, 2025.
Hank Sheppard, 80 of Crockett,TX passed peacefully into the arms of his savior on May 27th 2025. Born and raised in Houston Texas, hank spent the last decade of his life in Crockett Texas. Hank lived a life rich in love, faith, and service. He was the son of Henry-known affectionately as "Bunk"-and Margie Sheppard. He grew up in a family where values of hard work, loyalty, and faith were rooted deep, and those principles became the foundation of Hank's own life.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved siblings-Charles and Bonnie Sheppard, June and Chuck Cobb, and Gene and Doris Sheppard, Arleta and Jay Shelton, Donald and Peggy Sheppard, John Wayne Harris, Burl and Wynona Harris, Richard and Sue Asher, Evelyn and William Turner Mize. And while we mourn the absence of these family pillars, we also take comfort in knowing Hank is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Hank leaves one living sibling Barbara Harris.
Hank was a devoted Christian whose faith shaped every part of his life. He enjoyed serving as a song leader for the church and served as a deacon for Champions Church of Christ, not for recognition, but out of a sincere heart for God and a commitment to his community. His integrity, compassion, and quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
For over 61 years, Hank shared his life with his cherished wife, Ruby Sheppard. Together, they built a family grounded in love and unity-his example of ever lasting love and devotion to Ruby is a legacy that lives on in their children and grandchildren. Hank was the proud father of Brent Sheppard, and of Jennifer and Alan Habash of Houston. His role as a father was one he wore with pride, guiding his children with the same values he lived by.
His joy expanded with each grandchild-Kyler Towery, Payton, Camryn and Hunter Habash. Trinity, Aydon, Christian, and Faith Sheppard. He adored each one of them. Whether sharing stories or simply spending time together, Hank was a steady and loving presence in their lives.
Hank was a man of adventure. He had a deep love for the outdoors-hunting, exploring the world through travel, and scuba diving with his children. These weren't just hobbies; they were opportunities for Hank to bond with his family, to marvel at God's creation, and to live fully.
His sense of duty extended beyond family and faith. Hank served the public with dignity and dedication as a deputy for the Harris County Sheriff's Department for many years, and as a constable for Precinct 5 during the 1980s as well
As several other police agencies. He was respected by colleagues and the community alike for his fairness, and unwavering sense of justice.
To know Hank was to know humility, humor, and heart. his presence alone was steadying and strong. He was the kind of man who led by example-through his strength, deep conviction, and a love that never wavered.
As we say goodbye today, we also say thank you. Thank you, Hank, for the example you set. For the love you gave so freely. For the laughs, the lessons, and the legacy. Though you are no longer with us in body, your spirit lives on in every life you touched.
May we honor your memory by living with the same unwavering faith in our lord, courage, and love that you showed us every day. Rest in peace, Hank Sheppard-you were truly one of a kind.
