Hanna Virginia Bett, age 96, passed away peacefully at Danbury Sanctuary Grande Senior Living in North Canton on February 4, 2025. She was preceded in death by her father Walfred G. Olson, mother Catherine (Songer) Olson, husband Murray M. Bett, M.D., brothers William Olson and Walfred Olson, Jr. and sister Harriet Hillhouse.
Hanna was born and raised in Bradford, PA and came to Erie, PA after graduating from high school, to attend nursing school. She was a Registered Nurse (RN) and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). To obtain these degrees, she attended Hamot School of Nursing in Erie, the University Hospitals of Cleveland, Aultman College of Nursing in Canton and CRNA School in Rochester, NY.
Hanna was a Canton resident since 1961. She was a Red Cross Volunteer and Community Blood Program Volunteer and served on the advisory board. She was also a member of the Stark County Medical Auxiliary and St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church in North Canton. She and her husband Murray loved both the Canton Symphony Orchestra, for which she endowed a principal chair in memory of her husband Murray, and the Cleveland Orchestra, for which she created the Dr. and Mrs. Murray M. Bett Blossom Guest Conductor Fund.
She is survived by 2 nephews and 4 nieces: Kenneth Olson, Donald Hillhouse, Sue Keane, Diane Vecellio, Barbara Bish and Betty Davis, a sister-in-law Frances Olson and her dearest friend, Maria Volk.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 1:00pm at St. Stephen Martyr Lutheran Church, located at 4600 Fulton Dr NW, Canton, OH 44718.
