Richard Eidens Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reed Funeral Home - Canton Chapel on Sep. 8, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Richard Eugene Eidens Sr., age 67 of Canton, OH passed away, Sunday, September 7, 2025. He was born March 26, 1958 in Cambridge, OH. Richard grew up on a farm in Guernsey County, helping his dad with the farm work alongside his siblings. Richard later worked at S.C. Manufacturing Company in Akron, OH for many years.

He always loved barrel racing his horse "Little Pal" and playing his guitar. If Richard wasn't whistling the tunes of his favorite songs, you could hear his Johnny Cash voice singing them. Richard enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, country music, and old western movies. He also loved family gatherings and going to the horse races. From the time he was able to drive until his passing, any vehicle he owned was always spotless inside and out.

Richard will be remembered for his kind and thoughtful ways. He was very helpful and giving to his entire family and even strangers. Whether it was winter clothing or a meal for the homeless, bicycles for children, home repairs or remodels for family and friends, to vehicle repairs or giving his last dollar to someone in need. He would give good advice to the younger generation and encourage them to always do better, to make a difference. He was a very selfless man!

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Robert R. and Sue Eidens, and Betty J. and Max Tidwell; brother, Jeff Eidens; stepson, Eddie Taylor; and three brothers-in-law.

Richard leaves his wife, Sharon Eidens, whom he married on December 18, 2004; children, Regina Eidens, Richard Eidens II; step children, Valerie, Michael, Danny, Liza and extended family; grandchildren, Trevonte Miller, Jontay Eidens, David Hill Jr., Delonte Brown, Justin Eidens, Haylee Eidens, Richard Eidens III, Emma Duart; great grandchildren, Aniah Miller, Autianna Miller, Azariah Miller, Kay'lani Hill, Emersyn Eidens, Everlee Eidens; sisters, Patty (Norman) Wilson, Debbie Foss, Connie Comeione, Tammy (Ron) Jeffery, Robin Green, Trina (Randy) Stoner, Teri (Craig) Johnson, Amy Higginbotham; brothers, Bob (Debbie) Eidens, Charles Eidens, Dana (Shari) Eidens, David Brown, Allen (Kim) Brown; sister-in-law, Julie Eidens; and many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. He also leaves his faithful dog, Milo.

The family would like to thank Aultman Hospice and nurses, Nikki, Leah, Karen, and their co-workers for the excellent care they gave to Richard.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 11, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Reed Funeral Home Canton Chapel. Service will follow at 12:00 PM.
