Helen D. Hudak

Helen D. Hudak gained her wings on September 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Helen was born on December 27, 1933, and throughout her life, she embodied kindness.. Helen found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Her spirit of generosity and joy in giving will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Helen adored her loving husband of 59 years, Edward. She cherished her roles as a wife, mother, and grandmother. Singing lively tunes brought her immense joy, as did spending time with her family and having them all together. Helen's love for cooking was evident in the delicious meals she prepared for her family and friends. Her exceptional baking, quilting, and crocheting skills earned her numerous awards at the County fair, and her recipes were often victorious in chili cookoffs. Helen was an avid reader, frequently finishing a book in just one day. Her high school years saw her as a cheerleader at Timken High School. Helen held a cosmetology license until her passing and had previously been the proud owner of her own beauty salon in Perry Township. She generously volunteered her time at Saint Joan of Arc Parish and Central Catholic High School. Helen's love for animals was apparent in her affection for her tiny dogs and cockatiels. Relaxing on her front porch, surrounded by the soothing sounds of her wind chimes, brought her peace. Helen was preceded in death by her parents John and Edith (Postlewait) Phillips, husband Edward J. Hudak, son-in-law John Laskey, and 12 siblings. She is survived by children Edward Hudak JR, Karen Laskey, Shirley Hudak, Andrea Bilder (Dean VanNess), and Andrew Hudak (Betsy Sweitzer), grandchildren Danny, Melissa, Michael and Matthew, and great-grandchildren Zachary, Brooke and Alexander. In honor of Helen's life and legacy, calling hours will be held on September 11, 2025 from 5-6 PM at Reed Funeral Home 705 Raff Road SW Canton, OH. This will be a time for family and friends to come together, share fond memories, offer comfort, and keep her spirit alive in our hearts. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 4940 Tuscarawas St. W Canton, OH 44708 at 11:00 AM, on Friday September 12, 2025 with Rev. Fr. Thomas Dyer officiating. Interment at Calvary Cemetery and luncheon to follow at Saint Josephs Catholic Church on West Tuscarawas Street. Her life was a testament to love and creativity, and though she has left this world, her warmth and spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
