Visit the Paquelet and Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Homes website to view the full obituary.

Marian Lucille Phillips, born Marian Lucille Hoffman on March 13, 1930, in Canton, Ohio, peacefully passed away on September 07, 2025, in Massillon, Ohio, at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of her family. Marian was the cherished daughter of the late James and Hilda Hoffman, beloved sister of the late Irene Hoffman Wernecke and the late Marjorie Hoffman Koontz, and is survived by her brother, David James Hoffman.

Marian's life was defined by her warmth, devotion, and steadfast love for her family and community. She was first married to Robert Allen Schweitzer, with whom she had two sons, Jim Schweitzer and Glen (Laura) Schweitzer. Marian later found love again and married William Robert Phillips, with whom she shared many joyful years.

She was the proud grandmother of Lauren (Jeff) Bolton, Jason Schweitzer (m. Angela Mercado), Michael (Kayleigh) Schweitzer, Jessica (Ben) Altemus and Brandon Warner.

Marian's legacy lives on through her great-grandchildren: Ellen Bolton, Brenna Bolton, Collin Schweitzer, Natalie Schweitzer, and Harper Altemus, each of whom brought her immense pride and happiness.

Throughout her career, Marian contributed her skills as a secretary for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the early 1960s and later dedicated 22 years as a private secretary to Arthur E. Gibbs. Her remarkable organizational talents and attention to detail were matched only by her kindness and generosity in the workplace.

Marian found great fulfillment in serving her faith community at First Baptist Church of Massillon. Her artistry and thoughtfulness graced the church as she lovingly arranged beautiful floral displays that brightened services and brought comfort to many. Her dedication to the church was a reflection of her gentle spirit and enduring faith. Marian was a long-term member of her card club and had a special love for her beloved dogs-affectionately called "woofies"-as well as birdwatching and savoring the simple pleasures of life.

Above all, Marian's greatest joy was found in her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her unwavering love and support, lasting wisdom, and nurturing presence shaped the lives of all her family members and will be remembered for generations to come. She was a pillar of strength and compassion whose legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her.

Marian will be dearly missed, yet fondly remembered for the love she shared and the lives she touched. Her memory will remain a guiding light for her family and everyone blessed to have known her.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 19, 2025 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Paquelet Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:00pm at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Marian's memory to First Baptist Church of Massillon.
