Harlan Leroy Koens of Roseburg, Oregon, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran and the longtime owner of Kamper Korner RV Center in Roseburg, a successful business he built with integrity and care for his community.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynnette Joan Koens, and his brothers Johnny and Gerald. Harlan is survived by his three sons-Todd (Kristin), Chad (Cathy), and Wade (Sarah)-as well as seven grandchildren: Ashley, Naomi, Jarret, Ally, Camryn, Kelsey, and Andrew. He is also survived by his brother Marvin, sister Dorothy, numerous nieces and nephews, and his very special dog, Joni.

After retiring, Harlan remained a steady presence in the lives of his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for his service and work ethic but for the values and character that defined him throughout his life.

Harlan had a lifelong passion for auto racing. He began his racing career on the dirt tracks of Medford, Oregon, in the early 1970s, later moving to Roseburg in the mid-1980s, where he transitioned to racing on asphalt. He became well known throughout the Northwest racing community driving his iconic #18 car, not just for his accomplishments behind the wheel, but for his generosity in helping other drivers, his volunteer work with the local racing association, and his enduring love for the sport. Harlan was the first generation of Koens racers, followed by his son Wade in 2003, and his grandson Andrew in 2015, forming a proud three-generation racing tradition.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His steady presence, generous spirit, and lifelong commitment to those around him will be remembered with love and gratitude.

Services will be at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Wilson's Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg, Oregon.
