Harlan Self, 82 of Beardstown, died Friday, January 30, 2026 at Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born December 25, 1943 in Beardstown, the son of Perry and Nellie Travis Self.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, along with many friends, including a very special friend, Cindy Elliott, who made sure he always had all the Pepsi and treats he could ever want.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Catherine Carpenter, Anna Mae Surratt, Ruby Smith, Velma Nash, and Imogene Burnett; and two brothers, Robert and Lawrence Self.
Harlan attended school in Beardstown and was a member of First Christian Church of Beardstown, where he loved attending services whenever he was able. His nieces and nephews fondly remember him for taking them skating when they were younger. He enjoyed fishing, and his favorite times were spent at family gatherings.
Graveside services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, February 13, 2026, at Beardstown City Cemetery. Colwell Memorial Home in Beardstown is handling the arrangements.
