Harland "Bud" Schuelke, age 99 of Neenah, passed away peacefully early Sunday, August 24, 2025. He was born December 14, 1925 in Menasha to the late Ervin and Esther Schuelke and was a 1943 graduate of Neenah High School. He joined the Army Air Corps and served during WWII as a member of the 8th Air Force, 457th Bomb Group and flew on the B-17 as the Ball Turret Gunner.

On October 5, 1946, Bud married Shirley Mathison and together, they had four children.

Bud worked for 40 years for the Neenah-Menasha Wastewater Treatment Plant and was voted Operator of the Year in 1979. He served as chairman of the Lake Michigan District in 1981 and 1982, and was a life member of Wisconsin Wastewater Operators Association. He retired in 1988, but continued to keep himself busy with volunteer work.

Bud was a member of the Neenah Club and the Neenah-Menasha Retired Men's Fellowship Club, and gave many hours over 15 years as a manager of the Boys' Senior League Baseball. He was also a faithful volunteer through his church, First United Methodist Church, for Meals on Wheels, Vallhaven, and Hoover School.

In what he had for free time, Bud enjoyed watching football and baseball, playing cards, and fishing. He always looked forward to his up-north vacations, and in 1987, was rewarded with a wall-hanging musky.

Bud is survived by his four children: Lynn Holm; Mark (Marjean) Schuelke; Mike (Sue) Schuelke; and Lori (Tom) Long; grandchildren: Derek (Nikki); Ryan; Brad (Juanita); Kelly (Ryan); Cassie (Kyle); Whitney (Ian); Ariel (Dylan); and Morgen (Shawn); and great-grandchildren: Beckham, Bennett, Soren, Evelyn, Davis, Payton, Kelsey, Rylee, Keston, Huxley, Hudson, Oliver, Parker, Emma, and Harper. His is further survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; his sister, Betty (Fritz); brothers- and sisters-in-law: Mavis and Vern, Everett and Myrtle, and Doug and Barb; as well as by his son-in-law, Tom Holm.

A funeral service for Bud will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, 108 W. Doty Ave, with Rev. Rebecca Henry officiating. A visitation will be held at church from 9:30 A.M. until the hour of service. Bud will be entombed with Shirley at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Shrine of Heaven Mausoleum at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, September 15, 2025.
