Harold attended Sacred Heart School but had to quit in the 8th grade to go to work to help support his parents. He worked numerous jobs throughout the area helping farmers. He enlisted in the army at the age of 19 and served from 1957-1960 with most of his tour being served in Germany. After getting out of the army he went to work for Stockmans Feed Store. That's where he met the love of his life, Sug Bindel. She was bringing grain in for her dad. After dating for 2 years, they were married in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on September 8, 1962, and settled on the Bindel Family farm where they continued to live to this day.
In 1969 he went in partnership with his father-in-law John A. Klement in the dairy business. He bought him out in 1974 and continued to operate the dairy with the help of Sug and his 3 kids. He also started a business with his partner Ben Fleitman Jr, F&B Hog farm. Together they raised hogs and had a custom baling business.
In 2003, after milking cows twice a day, 7 days a week for 34 years, he finally decided to retire from the dairy business. Since he didn't have any hobbies, he continued to work.
He worked for Fish Creek Ranch for several years and then went to one of his most enjoyable jobs as a Wal Mart greeter.
