Harold Eugene Bitner Jr.

Harold Eugene Bitner, Jr., 75, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his home.

Born Thursday, October 5, 1950, in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Harold Eugene Bitner Sr. and the late Mildred Marie (Hoyle) Bitner.

Hal graduated from North Hagerstown High School in 1968, and later earned his bachelor and master degree's in education. He served with the Air National Guard in Martinsburg, WV for six years. Hal also earned an MBA and passed the boards to become a CPA. Hal was employed with the Washington County Board of Education, teaching at several schools but spent the majority of his time at Clear Spring Middle School, he retired after more than 34 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church and B.P.O. Elks Lodge 378

He is survived by his brother, Michael K. Bitner and wife Jane, nephews and niece, Cody, Andrew & Kimberly Bitner and numerous friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Deborah Bitner Anderson and long time girlfriend, Joan Moller.

Services will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 2:00 pm, at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North Hagerstown, MD, with Pastor Virgil Cain officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.

Interment will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown, MD.
