Harold Brandwein Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Feb. 23, 2026.
Dane Brandwein, 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his home, holding his wife's hand, on February 16, 2026. Born on August 28, 1945, in Springfield, Dane lived a life deeply rooted in faith, family, and service.

A proud graduate of Central High School and Drury University, Dane dedicated his life to serving others through a diverse and impactful career. He served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Vietnam War before joining the Springfield Police Department. Later, he became an Evangelism Pastor at Rolling Hills Baptist Church, Deputy Sheriff at Green County, and served as Chief Deputy for Christian County. Dane concluded his professional journey as an Environmental Public Health Investigator with the Greene County Health Department, retiring in 2010 with over 30 years of public service.

Dane's spiritual journey was central to his life. He was saved on March 17, 1974, baptized one week later on March 24, and ordained as a minister on October 11, 1987. For over forty years, he faithfully taught Sunday school and shared his love of scripture with others. His devotion to his faith was evident not only in his ministry but also in the way he lived each day.

Dane met the love of his life in grade school and enjoyed a remarkable marriage that spanned 60 years. Together, they built a family filled with love and cherished memories. He is survived by his wife Pat Brandwein, sister Mary Jo Becker, children: Shawn Brandwein and wife Debra Brandwein, and Aaron Brandwein; grandchildren Tanna Baker-Hoggatt and husband Danny Hoggatt, Tyler Brandwein, and Hope Brandwein; and great-grandchildren Huxley Baker, Bentley Brandwein, Beau Brandwein, and Iris Hoggatt. Dane was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.

In addition to his professional accomplishments and spiritual leadership, Dane found joy in simple pleasures. He loved attending church services, spending time with family and friends, studying scripture, teaching others about faith, golfing, playing cards, snacking on popcorn while watching westerns, and visiting the beach.

Dane's legacy is one of unwavering faith and dedication to those he loved. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held on February 26, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Thrive Church 113 W. Mount Vernon.

Dane will be laid to rest with full military honors at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, MO on March 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
