Harold Owen Carr, of Greers Ferry, Arkansas passed away at his home, surrounded by his loved ones, on December 26, 2025, at the age of 83. He was born in Shiloh, Arkansas on August 5, 1942, to the late Ople and Opal (Galloway) Carr. He was a lifelong resident of Cleburne County.
He was retired from the Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department and the Greers Ferry Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member and deacon of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Greers Ferry. He was number six of twelve children. He loved to hunt and fish, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandkids and cheering on his great grandchildren at their sporting events.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one great granddaughter, Annabelle Yoder. Three sisters, Lavetta Jean Pike, Cloeta Berry and Gereta Gibbs, and one brother Phill Carr.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Vernita Birdsong Carr of Greers Ferry, Arkansas. One son, Gregory Owen Carr (Missy) and one daughter Angela Carr McDaniel (Dennis) all of Greers Ferry, Arkansas. Five grandchildren, Brooke Cornett (Landon) of Concord, Arkansas, Brittney Yoder (Ryan) of Heber Springs, Arkansas, Amber George (Dustin) of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, Cole Oaks (Kylie) of Quitman, Arkansas, and Brandon Carr of Greers Ferry. Four great grandchildren, Tayler & Tatum Haley of Greers Ferry, Arkansas and Grayson & Carson Cornett of Concord, Arkansas. Six sisters, Eva Dean Bittle(Billy Tom), Elfreeda Tilley, Shirley Woolf, Karen Taylor (Fred), Judy Prestwood (James), and Dedra McCaghren. One brother, Carlon Carr (Linda) and one brother-in-law, Dempsey Berry. Many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church with funeral services beginning at 1:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 with Bro. Greg Carr and Bro. Darvin Carlton officiating. Interment will be in Shiloh Crossroads Cemetery.
