Harold Eugene Carter, age 92, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected member of the Glasgow community, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, in Glasgow, Kentucky. He was born on February 14, 1934, in Cedar Grove, Harold led a life marked by service, both to his country and to his community.
Harold proudly served his country as a member of the US Army before dedicating many years as a mailman for the United States Postal Service. Beyond his career in public service, he was a hardworking farmer, nurturing the land that so dear to him. His commitment extended beyond his professions. He was deeply involved in his church, where he served as a Deacon, and had taught the adult Sunday School class, and served as church clerk.
Harold's family was his greatest joy and source of strength. For 67 years, he shared a loving partnership with his wife, Lavaune. Together, they built a life filled with love and commitment. Harold is also survived by his son, David Carter and his wife Susan; his daughter, Ann Clay and her husband Scott; as well as cherished grandchildren Austin Clay and his wife Kelci, and Sarah Carter (Logan Ellis). His love extended to his great-grandchildren, Bentley, Lucian, Caroline, and Brayden, who brought immense happiness to his later years. He also leaves behind his sister Louise Cox and her husband Don.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Norine Carter, his brother, Charles Carter and infant brother, Curtis Carter.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 15th, at A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home, with burial in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Saturday, and Sunday morning until time for the service at the funeral home.
Military honors will be provided by Glasgow DAV Chapter #20.
