Harold Henry "Hal" Cassen

Harold Henry Cassen was born 20 May 1939 to Harm Henry & Edith (Hofius) Cassen in Claremont, Minnesota. Harold died 16 Oct 2025 at Mesa, Arizona. The family lived in Chula Vista, CA during WW2. They moved to Owatonna, MN in 1947. In 1957, they moved back to Chula Vista, CA where Harold graduated from high school. Harold worked at Duffy's Grocery Store in Owatonna MN during high school. Employment in California included: Ryan Aircraft, Western Union, Times Mirror Press, Sacramento Union Newspaper. Hal worked as typesetter and graphic designer. Retired at age 60 due to heart health problems. Moved to Owatonna Minnesota in 2004 and then to Mesa Arizona in 2005. Married to Lynda Lewis in 1960, divorced in 1976. She died in 2013. They had 3 children Gary (Maggie), Kristin, and Todd (Amber). 2003 – 2025 engaged to Wanda Ringhofer, never married.

Hal rode his horses in 50-& 100-mile Endurance races in Northern California and Nevada. Hal loved singing Old Time Country Music in Karaoke and 19 years singing in music jams in Arizona. Hal Cassen and the Country Pickers entertained at the Steele County Free Fair in Owatonna Minnesota in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Others interests were computer, music, collecting musical instruments, and western movies.

Preceded in death by parents, son Gary Cassen, sister and husband Betty & Bob Pichner, brother and wife Allan & Lois Cassen, sister and husband Mary & Jim Frederick, brother-in-law Jim Edwards.

Survived by special partner, Wanda Ringhofer; son and wife Todd & Amber Cassen, daughter Kristin Cassen; daughter-in-law Maggie Cassen. Grandchildren: Gary(Felisha) Cassen, Loni (Michael) Parris, Monte (Allison) Henderson, Kyle (Andrea) Henderson, Ryan (Brittany) Henderson, Amanda Henderson, Haylee and Avery Cassen.

Great Grandchildren: Allison & Katrina Cassen, Thomas Chase and 2 stepsons Myles & Jake Parris, Romie & Asher Henderson, Lucas, Hayden and step daughter Amy Henderson, Theodore Ankrom. Also, brother Bill (Melody) Cassen and sister Beverly Edwards plus many nieces and nephews.

Services to be held in the spring in Owatonna, Minnesota. Burial in Owatonna Memoria Gardens, 3627 N County Rd 45, Owatonna, MN.
