Juliana Cassen Obituary

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - Juliana Cassen, 81, of Charlotte, NC, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024. Always with a beautiful smile, she was kind, caring, and generous. She loved children and always wanted everyone to be happy.
Born in New York City in 1942, Julie was a passionate and lifelong educator. Serving first as a classroom teacher in both New York City and Charlotte, she became a science resource teacher for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, where she created the elementary school planetarium programs, and a variety of teacher workshops in the sciences. She was a recipient of the Ben Craig Award for Outstanding Educators for her work in introducing positive discipline techniques. She rounded out her career in administration after serving nine years as the Principal of Dilworth Elementary School in Charlotte.
Julie's wide range of interests included photography and traveling. After retiring, she and her husband traveled the globe, visiting 35 countries.
Julie is survived by her husband, Tom Cassen, children Melody and David, grandsons Michael, Tyler and Lucas, her sister Suzanne Wasik, and brother John Lomos.
