Chura, Harold
COHOES - Harold Chura, 93, formerly of Halfmoon, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2025, at Eddy Village Green. Born in Watervliet, he was the son of the late John and Pauline Berdar Chura. He was a 1949 graduate of Catholic Central High School.
Harold had been employed at the GE Silicone Plant in Waterford for 37 years and retired in 1992. He was a veteran of the U.S. Airforce and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Mohawk Post 1450 and the GE Quarter Century Club.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Ann E. Rixon Chura; his children, Timothy M. Chura (Libby) of Clifton Park, Christine A. Dumas (Darryl) of Schuylerville and Deborah A. Pittman (David) of Fredericksburg, Va. He is the brother of Mary Ann Mencyzwor of Columbia, Conn., the late Joseph Chura and Marcella Perkinson. Four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, a 11:30 a.m., from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Rte. 32), Waterford, and at noon, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment with Military Honors will be at Saratoga National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday, prior to the funeral from 10 – 11:30 a.m.
