Harold Daye Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. - Dale City on Nov. 14, 2024.
Harold Daye, Jr was born January 3, 1954, to the proud parents of Isabell Daye and the late Harold Daye, Sr. who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were his loving grandmother, Annie Daye; the late Richard Daye; John Daye; Jame Bumpus; Corrine Daye; Clarence Mayo; Dorothy O. Bumpus; and Hulon J. Drew. At an early age, Harold confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior where he joined Dickerson Chapel AME, Hillsborough. After numerous military duties he relocated to Virginia and continued to serve the Lord at First Mount Zion Baptist Church of Dumfries VA. Harold attended Orange High School in Hillsborough, N.C. from which he graduated. He furthered his education at Northern Virginia Community College where he received his BA. Degree. He then became a licensed dermatologist serving in D.C., VA, and Maryland. After providing professional medical services for several years, he decided to change his occupation, transferring from the medical field to the security field where he remained as a faithful and dependable employee until his health began to deteriorate. Harold enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Bragg N.C. In 1979 while stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State, he met Lee M. Daye. A few years later (1982) they were joined together in holy matrimony. Together they raised her four children whom he considered and called his very own. After touring and serving our country, The United States and Overseas, he retired from the US Army with an honorable discharge. He enjoyed his free time playing with the grands and the great grandkids. He was an avid lover of sports, watching his beloved Washington Commanders (formerly Redskins) yelling at the TV as though he was standing on the sideline; watching basketball, wondering why they didn't hear him giving them tips on what to do or why the "batter up" would swing at a ball that he knew was too high or getting thrown out at home plate, as if he was the umpire. He leaves the cherish his memory: his mother, Isabelle Daye of N.C.; his wife of 42 plus years, Lee Daye of Woodbridge VA; one sister, Phyllis Drew of N.C.; Anthony (Maricel) Gibson, of Kansas; Phillip (Cookie)Gibson of Stafford, VA; Adrian Gibson of Farmerville Louisiana and Sherita McGee of Dale City, VA. He cherished Zakai Omari of Dale City, Va, other grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
