Harold Dewayne Ebke, 84, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Alton Memorial Nursing and Rehab.

He was born on November 20, 1940, in Julesburg, Colorado, to Lorenz and Irene (Anderson) Ebke.

Harold married Hannelore Dorth on July 7, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois.

He earned his Bachelor's degree in education, were he would work as a principal at Faith Lutheran School. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, IL. He was active in the church, and volunteered for the president and many elders of the Lutheran church. He enjoyed woodworking, yard work, gardening, and writing poetry. He belonged to the Antique Car Club. He also set up and helped with regional conventions for the Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Hannelore "Lore" Ebke; two sons, Grant (Sheila) Ebke of Millsboro, Delaware, and Kirk Ebke of Godfrey, Illinois; grandchildren, Christopher (Kim) Ebke, Matthew Ebke, Dylan (Mia) Ebke, and Kendra Ebke; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Alexander; and three sisters, Muriel (Marvin) Nelson of Colorado, Mary (Larry) Cumming of Nebraska, and Carolyn Wilke of Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter-in-law, Donna Ebke; and his brother-in-law, Bob Wilke.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Godfrey, Illinois. Rev. Appel will officiate.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Illinois.

Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
