Harold Jason Erwin, a trim carpenter and lifelong resident of Ohio, passed away on July 21, 2025, at the age of 50 after a courageous battle with melanoma.

Jason is survived by his fiancée, Danyeal Saleh; his children, Harold Erwin II (Savannah Erwin), Alexander Erwin, and Brianne Wolfe; his grandchildren; his mother, Gayla Erwin; his father, Ted Erwin; and his sisters, Kym Buhrts (Sean Buhrts), Jennifer Hayes (Adam Hayes), and Danielle Bauer (Michael Bauer); along with his nieces, nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

Jason was born in Ohio on July 31, 1974, to Ted and Gayla Erwin. He spent most of his life working as a skilled trim carpenter, known for his precision and craftsmanship. He could build or fix just about anything and took pride in his work. Outside of work, Jay was unapologetically himself — whether he was bowling a perfect game, snowboarding down a slope, cracking jokes that made you laugh until you cried, or just catching up on sleep after a long day, he did everything in his own unique way.

He was a father who loved his children, each in their own way, and his memory lives on in their stories and their strength. Though he was never one for long goodbyes or grand speeches, those closest to him knew his loyalty ran deep, and his presence brought both laughter and comfort.

Jay will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and everyone who had the chance to know him.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Shaw-Davis Funeral Home, located at 34 W Second Ave, Columbus, OH.
