Harold Eugene Euwer

Harold Eugene Euwer(Poppy), age 84, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022.
He was born in Auburn, Kansas. Harold married Wanda in Kansas in 1958. They honeymooned at the AHRA National Drag Races. Early in his career he worked for the Wichita Kansas Post Office, Stat Tab, Katz Drug Store, and Glanville Furniture. Harold received IBM training in data processing. He served 35 years at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Wadsworth, Kansas and Chicago, Illinois. After moving to Austin, Texas in 1966 he retired from the VA Austin Automation Center in 1997.
Harold loved technology, automotive, animals, and reading. He was a fan of AHRA and drove dragsters in local Kansas races. He cared for many dogs and cats over the years, but especially loved caring for rescue Great Danes. He held several officer roles in Data Processing Management Association (DPMA), now called Association for Information Technology Professionals (AITP). He was active in Austin Softball Association and Boy Scouts. He hosted many family barbeques and holidays at his Leander, Texas home. He was a quiet thoughtful man who enjoyed watching the family children play in the yard and pool.
Harold's death was preceded by his parents, 6 older siblings, his wife Wanda, and a step great grand-daughter Karenia. Harold is survived by the following family members. Harold's son Brian, spouse Glori, and their two children, the step-grandson is Dustin, spouse Roxanne, and son (step great grandson) Duncan, as well as the step granddaughter Desirae, spouse James (Joe), and step great grandchildren are James, Steven, Kolton, Kaleigh, and Kody. Harold's son Ned, spouse Beverly, with their two children (granddaughter) Stephanie, spouse Milo, their children (great granddaughter) Brooklynn and (great grandson) Carter, as well as Harold's granddaughter Katelyn.
The family thanks Silver Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bastrop, Texas for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in his final days.
