Mr. Samuel J. DeLeon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated funeral director, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family in
Austin, Texas.
He was born on Sunday, February 13, 1949, in
Austin, Texas, to Macario G. DeLeon and Beatrice C. DeLeon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Josephine DeLeon; his son, Bryan J. DeLeon; his daughter, Deana DeLeon Alvarez, and her husband, Benjamin Alvarez; and his beloved grandchildren, Joseph, K. Kaleb, Lyla, and Princeton, brothers, Mack DeLeon, Jr. and wife Patty, and Hector DeLeon and wife Arleigh; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim DeLeon and his sister, Gloria DeLeon.
Samuel's legacy of love, faithfulness, and family will live on brightly in the hearts of those he held so dear. He will forever be remembered as a man who cherished his wife deeply, guided his children with wisdom and care, and delighted in every moment shared with his grandchildren, as their laughter and accomplishments brought him endless joy.
Samuel grew up with a deep-rooted sense of service, compassion, and family devotion, qualities that would define his remarkable life.
From a young age, Samuel felt a calling to serve others during their most vulnerable moments. He pursued his passion by graduating from Landig College of Mortuary Science (now the Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service) and, in 1975, earned his license as a funeral director from the State of Texas. In 1976, he found his true home in
Lockhart, Texas, where he purchased a funeral home and quickly became an integral part of the community. The warmth and support of the Lockhart people allowed him the profound privilege of serving families with dignity and care for nearly 50 years. His love for Lockhart led him to form countless meaningful friendships through organizations such as the Knights of Columbus, LULAC, and many others.
In December 1984, Samuel expanded his reach by purchasing Angel Funeral Home in
Austin, Texas, continuing his legacy of providing comfort and guidance to families in their time of need.
Samuel lived a full and meaningful life as a deeply cherished husband, devoted father, and joyful grandfather whose gentle presence brought comfort, laughter, and unwavering support to everyone around him.
On behalf of Mr. DeLeon and our family, we extend our sincerest gratitude to the many friends, colleagues, and community members who have supported us throughout the years. We look forward to continuing to serve you with the same compassion and dedication that Samuel exemplified.
A private service was held for Mr. DeLeon on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at DeLeon Funeral Home.
Honored to serve as his pallbearers were his grandsons, his son-in-law, nephew, Isaac Jurado, and friend, Charles Croft.
