Harold R. "Bob" Friday, 84, of Rushville, passed away at noon, Friday, July 9, 2021, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born on October 28, 1936, in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Clifford and Cathleen "Lucille" (VanOrder) Friday. He married Helen L. Sweeten on January 18, 1957, in Frederick and she preceded him in death on March 16, 2009.
Surviving are two sons Lonnie Friday and Richard Friday, two daughters Vicky Surratt and Brenda Friday all of Rushville, two grandsons Andy Friday and Nicholas Surratt, two brothers Wayne Friday and wife Jennifer of Springfield and Don Friday and wife Eve of Metamora, two sisters Ruby Hammack of Canton and Donna Hammack of Rushville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons Harold Robert Friday and Robert Eugene Friday, three brothers James Friday, Russell Friday, and Clifford "Pete" Friday, two sisters Mildred Ren and Anna Robbins, two half-sisters Dorothy Bowman and Dory Anderson.
Bob first worked at a sawmill in Beardstown before moving to Oscar Mayer in Beardstown, until it closed. He then worked at the Vermont Foundry for 30 years retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed tinkering with lawn mowers. He treasured most the time he spent with his grandsons.
Services will be at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville, with Pastor Terry Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in the Ripley Cemetery at Ripley. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Monday, July 12, 2021, at the Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. Memorials are suggested to his family in care of Vicky Surratt.
