Harold Joe Friedrichs

Harold Joe Friedrichs, 87, of Goliad, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026.

He was born April 11, 1938, in Goliad to Joseph and Frances Volkner Friedrichs.

Harold grew up in the town that would remain his lifelong home not just a place he lived, but a community he helped hold together. After graduating from Goliad High School, he began working at Dixie Iron Works in Alice, Texas, later spending time with Shell Oil before returning home to build something of his own.

In December 1956, he married the love of his life, Myrtice Huebner.

Together they built more than a marriage, they built gathering places. First Friedrichs Texaco, and later Harold Joe's. Businesses that became part of daily life in Goliad for decades. People came for service, but stayed because Harold never met a stranger. Conversations lasted longer than fill-ups, stories mattered more than schedules, and neighbors were treated like family.

Even after retiring, he wasn't done serving others. He worked with Goliad Transit, continuing to help people simply because that's who he was, a man who showed up.

Harold believed love didn't have to be loud to be strong. It was in consistency, and being there when it counted. He was the steady presence in his family, the kind of man whose values were taught more by example than words.

He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Myrtice.

He is survived by his sons, Mitchel (Mimi) and Matthew; his grandchildren, Heather Brooker and Blake Friedrichs; his great-grandchildren Catherine, Bentley, Morgan, Emma, Mia, Brayden, Kooper, and Kora; his brother Dennis; and many nieces and nephews whose lives carry his influence forward.

Harold's life reminds us that greatness isn't measured in big moments, but in daily faithfulness in taking care of people, keeping your word, and loving your family without conditions.

He leaves behind a quieter world, but a stronger family.

He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Services will be Friday, February 20, 2026 with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 9:30 AM and Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Goliad, Texas. A burial will be held at a later date.
