Harold "Hank" Gow
Waterbury – Harold "Hank" Gow, 95, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, after a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Patricia (Sullivan) Gow for 66 years.
Hank was born in Waterbury on June 26, 1930, son of the late Andrew and Mary Ellen (Burke) Gow. Born and raised in Waterbury, Hank attended local schools before joining the Army Air Force, where he proudly served from 1949-1952, including being stationed in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. Hank started his career as a toolmaker for various manufacturing companies. He returned to school studying engineering & sales and became a sales representative for metal suppliers. He later opened his own sales agency as an independent manufacturers' agent, which he retired from in 2000.
He married the love of his life in 1955 and together they built a family that became his greatest accomplishment. He was a proud family man who enjoyed many trips and cruises with his wife.
He also enjoyed tracing the branches of his family tree through genealogy. He was a past president of the Bunker Hill Neighborhood Association; and served on various committees for Blessed Sacrament Church & School and Our Lady of Loreto Church.
Hank leaves behind his four children, Michael Gow, and his wife, Colleen; Thomas Gow; Cathleen Havican, and her husband, Jerry; and Eileen Schain; his grandchildren, David A. Schain, Lisa (Dan) Higgins, Kevin Schain, Stephanie (Chris) Nieves, and Melissa (Chris) Saunders; his great-grandchildren, Lucas, Cameron, and Liliana Higgins, and Hanley and Cora Nieves; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Including his beloved wife, Patricia, Hank was predeceased by his son in law, David I. Schain; his siblings, Jim (Edna) Gow, Bill (Ann) Gow, Mae (Ed) Pekrul, Don Gow, and Harriet Gow; his brothers and sisters in law, Jack (Judy) Sullivan, Betty Anne Sullivan, and Joan (Wally) O'Neill.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Bergin Funeral Home, 290 East Main Street, Waterbury. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Sacrament, 182 Robbins St., Waterbury for 10:30 a.m. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
