Harold “Hal” Ray Cioffi, age 68, of Long Beach, passed away on November 30, 2023.
Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Mary Cioffi; a sister, Linda Cioffi; his father-in-law, Gerald L. “Buster” Young; and a sister-in-law, Missy Smith Dedeaux.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Sharon Wendy Smith Cioffi; his children, Colby (Shelbie) Hartford and Kimberly Cioffi; his mother-in-law, Connie L. Young; sister-in-law, Leanne Dempsey (Howard); his grandchildren, Asher Hartford, Aleah Rodriguez, Kylee Deonarine, and Jaiden Deonarine; his nieces, Lexi Smith and Angelle Mitchell; his nephews, Brennan Dempsey and Jonathan Dempsey; and other relatives and friends.
Hal was a native of Dayton, Ohio and was a long time resident of Long Beach. He served in the U.S. Navy Seabees and retired as a builder chief. After retirement from the Navy, he worked for Bailey Lumber and was a contract instruct instructor for NCTC and the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a longtime member of the Carnival Association of Long Beach where he participated on several teams and numerous events and parades over the years.
The family would like to thank Dr. Allison Wall and staff, Dr. David LaRosa, Jr, Dr. Antoine Rizk, and the St. Joseph Hospice staff – inpatient and home health.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 7, 2023, from 4 – 5 pm at the Riemann Family Funeral Home, 19130 Commission Road, Long Beach. A prayer service will be at 5 pm in the chapel. Interment will be on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10 am in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
