Mr. Harold Allen Hamilton, 90, passed away on December 15, 2025, at Clemmons Village II Assisted Living. He was born on June 12, 1935, in Montgomery County to the late Baxter Rollins Hamilton and Octavia White Hamilton. Harold served in the Army Corp of Engineers for two years. He attended Greer Shop Training in Chicago IL where he completed a course in diesel mechanics. He worked as a mechanic and truck driver for almost 40 years. After his retirement from the trucking industry, he drove school buses for Winston-Salem Forsyth County schools, volunteered in the Honor Guard and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Department. Harold was a longtime member of Freedom Baptist Church. Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his pets, including cats and dogs that were very special to him and even one rescued baby squirrel. He loved providing food on his front porch for the wild birds and squirrels, where he could watch them through the window from his favorite recliner. He also had a love and great talent for gardening - vegetables, fruits, flowers, and other outdoor and indoor plants. He maintained a large vegetable and fruit garden for decades which, with the help of his late wife's excellent cooking and canning skills, nourished his family all year long. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Helms Hamilton; two brothers, Brack Hamilton and Carl Hamilton; one son, Gregory Lynn Hamilton; and one daughter, Deborah Ann Hamilton. He is survived by two daughters, Rebekah Jean Farmer (Keith), and Rachel Hamilton Sari; one son, Hal Baxter Hamilton (Cindy); one sister, Myrtle Maness; and four grandchildren, William Jenkins, Samuel Hamilton, Grayson Hamilton, and Tryston Hamilton. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his hospice team at Medi Hospice of Thomasville, all of the staff at Clemmons Village II Assisted Living, and his church family at Freedom Baptist Church who have all provided him and his family with tender care, support, prayers and love during difficult times. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jon White and Pastor Clint Fredericks officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
