Harold Isenhour Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thurman Funeral Home - Richmond on Dec. 3, 2025.
Harold "Ike" Edward Isenhour, 85, of Orrick, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Harold was born on December 6, 1939, in Clay County, the son of James E. and Joyce A. (Vest) Isenhour, Jr. He was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Alexander of Liberty on January 27, 1961; she preceded him in death on March 7, 2014.

Survivors include: son, Clay (Marlene) Isenhour of Orrick; daughter, Sherry Pennington (Rick Colbert) of Camden; four grandchildren: Cody (Elizabeth) Pennington, Jessica Isenhour (Andrea Keefer), Amy Finley, and Shelby Pennington (Kendall Shelton); 13 great-grandchildren: Hailey, Kailey, and Bailey Pennington, Paige Keefer, Mitchell and Jameson Peters, Addisyn, Austin, Avory, Dawson, and Dillon Finley, Matthew and Spencer Schlitzer; brother, Wayne R. Isenhour of Vibbard; sister, Brenda J. Cates of Liberty; several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Harvey W. Isenhour, sister, Dorothy E. Shelton, brother-in-law, Jon Shelton , son-in-law, Carl Cates, and sister-in-law, Mary Isenhour.

Harold was raised and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from Liberty High School. After high school, he began what would become a lifelong career with Ford Motor Company, joining the company in 1959 and retiring in 1992. Over the decades, Harold worked nearly every job there and took great pride in his work. He was a devoted and proud member of UAW Local #249.

While working at Ford, Harold also farmed. He enjoyed raising cattle, tending to the land, and could fix just about anything-always joking that it was "an old Indian trick" that made the repair possible. A true jack-of-all-trades, he was happiest in his shop, tinkering with tractors, tools, or whatever happened to need attention that day.

Harold loved old country music, classic westerns, and especially John Wayne. He wasn't much for sports until Patrick Mahomes came along. Harold found comfort in the simple things-being at home, working in his shop, and enjoying the life he built.

Above all, Harold cherished time spent with his family. Those moments were the heart of his life, and he was content knowing he was right where he belonged.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either South Point Cemetery or Orrick Fire Department. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street-P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation with funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M., with services to follow at 11:00 A.M. Burial will be in South Point Cemetery, Orrick. Please remember to share your memories of Harold with the family by visiting www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.

Harold was a classmate of mine at Liberty High School - Class of 1958. I always considered him a real gentleman and a good classmate. My condolences to his entire family.
