Harold Jenkins, Lou to all who knew and loved him, was born on November 24, 1951 in Denver, Colorado, the first of Robert and Gladys (Werner) Jenkins' three children.
When he was growing up, Lou loved playing football and heading to the slopes to ski with his Uncle Tom.
As a young man, Lou worked as a salesman, traveling throughout the west selling encyclopedias before becoming an office manager and trainer in New Mexico and Idaho for the encyclopedia company.
Lou was a lifelong and avid fan of the Denver Broncos. One of the highlights of his life was traveling to Miami in 1999 to see the Broncos win Superbowl XXXIII.
Faith was important to Lou in his later years. He especially loved attending services, Bible studies, and helping at his church in Pueblo, where he lived for most of the last 15 years.
Lou possessed a wonderful sense of humor and a strong love for his family.
His family expresses their deep gratitude to all who took such good care of him as his health began to fail, especially the staff at Golden Gate assisted living in Pueblo and University Heights Rehabilitation and Care Community in Aurora. Special thanks as well to the doctors, nurses, case managers and aides at both UC Hospital Memorial North and UC Hospital Anshutz who saw him through extended hospital stays.
Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Bobbi Ann, Lou is survived by his brother, Brian Jenkins and sister-in-law, Kate Fielder-Jenkins of California, and his two treasured nieces, Katherine Jenkins of Oregon and Brittany Jenkins of Utah.
A private family remembrance will be held in Oregon this summer.
