Harold Johnson Jr.

Harold Johnson, Jr., age 84, of Mount Laurel, NJ passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 13, 2025, while surrounded by his loving family. Harold, who was commonly called Mike, was born and raised in Camden, NJ to the late Lillian and Harold Johnson, Sr. He resided in Willingboro and Moorestown before his current residence of 8 years in Mt. Laurel.

Mike bravely served in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. After completing his service, he continued honorably serving his community as a Camden City fire fighter. Firefighter Johnson primarily served from the Kaighn Avenue Station. He was an original founding member of Camden BUFF (Black United Fire Fighters). In his free time, Mike enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Eagles and was an avid watcher of the TV show, General Hospital. He was often teased at the fire station for watching this soap opera. Above all else, the best husband/father in the world, loved spending time with his family. One of his favorite things was food shopping and cooking for Sunday dinners and special events.

Mike married Aisha in 1966 and are the parents of two daughters. Mike was affectionately called Tooty by his daughters. Nieces and nephews referred to him as Uncle Tooty. He seriously took on his role as supporter and protector. In 1989, Tooty became a grandfather and was renamed P-Pop. Then in 2015 he was renamed AGAIN to P by his great grandchildren. Harold/Mike/Tooty/P-Pop/P loved his family and was adored by his family to the very end.

Harold is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Aisha Thomas Johnson; his loving and devoted daughters, Michele Grimes (Earl), and Sonya Hatton (Rodney); his treasured grandchildren, Keenan Grimes, Jayda Grimes, Jalen Hatton (Gabrielle), Kayla Clark (Cameron), and Kiara Grimes; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Kaelin, Morgan, Kassidy, Maverick, Hailie, and Axelrod. Harold is survived by a host of other family members and friends.

Relatives and friends are welcome to visitation on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 and the memorial service immediately following at 11:00 am. Both events will be held at Mount Laurel Home for Funerals, 212 Ark Rd, Mt. Laurel, NJ 08054. Interment will follow services at Lakeview Memorial Park Cemetery in Cinnaminson, NJ.
