Harold (Hal) Joseph Kennedy of Vero Beach, FL went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on May 10, 2022.
Hal was born in Queens NY to Harold Kennedy and Gertrude Jablonski Kennedy on April 22, 1942. He spent the first 12 years of his life in Brooklyn, NY until his family moved to Long Island, NY.
Hal enlisted in the Navy from 1961 – 1965. After the Navy Hal became a UnionElectrician and member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 25 in NY for 14 years.
In addition, Hal operated his own New York City Charter Fishing Boat for 5 years. In his spare time, Hal took advantage of his Veteran's benefits to become a pilot, achieving the ratings of Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Airline Transport Pilot, Land and Sea, and Certified Flight Instructor. He was Type Rated in the LRJet, ATR-42/72. He logged over 10,000 hours of flying time. He flew Corporate Charters, and Air Ambulance flights mainly in the LearJet for various corporate Air Operators for many years.
In 1988 Hal was hired by the Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration, Flight Standards Division as an Operations Inspector with oversight of several air carriers in both the Domestic and International Offices in Miami, F,L and Charlotte, NC. During this time Hal was the Local Office Representative for the Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS) Union. He retired from the FAA in 2008.
Hal loved classic automobiles and in 2006 founded a Classic Car Club located in Rock Hill, SC named The Rock Hill Cruisers, which is still active and thriving today.
Hal was a very active volunteer from 2013 - 2018 serving homeless men at Bethel Men's Warming Center located in Rock Hill, SC.
Hal was raised Roman Catholic and became an active member of the Methodist church in 2006. He loved studying God's word and knows Jesus as his personal Savior.
He is survived by his wife Sylvia, his twin sister, Ellen Monohan of Centereach, NY, Step Children, Walter Zawistowski, of Key Biscayne, FL, Melissa Zawistowski, Aaron Zawistowski, and Step Grandson Jaxson Zawistowski all of Vero Beach, FL
