Christine Heathcock Kennedy, 98, of Oak Ridge, TN passed away November 21, 2025 at the Methodist Medical Center, Oak Ridge.
Born in Calhoun County, Alabama to George Washington Heathcock Jr. and Ethel Taylor. Married Norman Douglas Kennedy, Calhoun County. Chris has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1954, and for several years, a resident at the Groves of Oak Ridge.
Chris was preceded in death by husband, Norman Douglas, sisters; Mildred Howse, Desie May Daniels, Pauline Fowler, brother; Ray Heathcock, and niece; Jackie McIntyre.
Chris is survived by her daughter; Patricia L. Butler, and son Norman Glen Kennedy; grandchild; Michelle Leedy, great grandchild, Onyka Leedy, grandchild; Bryan Kennedy, great grandchild, Jacob (Jake) Kennedy, grandchild, Sean Kennedy; nephew, Scott Daniels, niece, Terry Daniels Lumpkin, niece, Paula Fowler, niece, Karen Fowler, nieces, Jennifer and Lisa Heathcock.
Chris was an active long-time member of Robertsville Baptist Church, loved to work with young children including Sunday school and vacation Bible school. Chris was also a member of the Baptist women's group, preparing and delivering food and clothing to the Cherokee Indian Reservation in The Smokey Mountains.
Also, Chris's hand quilting has won her many awards. 'Star's With Flaire', first place winner for National Pride in workmanship in 1993 at the Smokey Mountain Quilter's show in Knoxville, TN was featured on the cover of 'McCall's Quilting'. This quilt also won awards at Paducah Ky. and Dollywood.
Christine will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery in Gadsden, AL in a private ceremony.
