Harold "Dennis" Philp

Harold "Dennis" Philp, age 83, passed away with his wife at his side, on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Dennis was born to Wilmot "Teke" Philp and Betty "Jane" Philp on June 25th, 1941, in Eureka, California. He was the oldest of their three children. He graduated from Eureka Senior High School in 1959, and attended one year of college at Humboldt State University. In 1961 Dennis enlisted in the Air Force and served at Mount Laguna Air Force Base outside of San Diego until he was honorably discharged in 1965. He was then in the Air Reserve until 1967.
Dennis married the love of his life on December 28, 1966 in Anaheim, California. They lived in Huntington Beach, California until November 1979 when they moved to Boise, Idaho and never left. Dennis worked in retail all of his career at Thrifty, Payless, and later Ponderosa Paint.
Dennis was very active at his church, Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, until the past few years. He worked with the youth group and had many who knew him as "dad". He lead bible study groups, served on the council, and sang with the praise team. Dennis also spent a few years acting with Music Theater of Idaho, and working backing stage. He also did some Music Week productions with Warren and Jan. He was loved by so many and enjoyed cheering for his children and grandchildrens marching band festivals, band concerts and choir concerts, also coaching and umpiring baseball, and loved his Boise State Broncos.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Janice "Jan" Philp, and his sister, Judith "Judy" Braddon. His three children, Angela (Tim) Bolen, Jonelle (Michael) Hudson, Aaron Philp. Also his grandchildren, Zoe Bolen, Samantha Hudson, Maxwell Hudson, Cody Bolen, MaKayla Philp, Gabriella Philp, Jacob Hudson, Jesse Philp, and Grace Hudson. His great-grandchildren, Parker Holloway, Sharon Landis, and Brooklyn Hollow.
Denniss celebration of life will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 3100 S Five Mile Rd, Boise, ID 83709, on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2pm, with a reception following in the Fellowship Hall.
