Harold Pidgeon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Am Israel Mortuary - San Diego on Dec. 2, 2025.
Harold Ray Pidgeon, age 87, passed away on December 1, 2025. Born June 3, 1938, in Des Moines, Iowa, Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, businessman, and community leader whose life was marked by hard work, generosity, and deep commitment to family and Jewish philanthropy.

Harold is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley, his sons Brian (fiancé Hannah Kampf) and Mark (wife Hasty), and nine grandchildren: Tiana Fuller (husband Alex), Sam, Max, Paige, Larrizza, Livia, Daniel Wolf, Justin Mandel, and Alex Mandel, and Harold's sister Sharon Koren. He was preceded in death by his son Larry in 2012.

Harold graduated from the University of Iowa, later joining his family's furniture and appliance business, Pidgeon Furniture, eventually helping expand it into one of the top 100 furniture retailers in the country. A longtime leader in the Jewish community of Des Moines, Harold served as president of the United Jewish Federation before relocating to San Diego in 1985, where he co-founded Fashion Furniture Rental with his wife and sons.

He will be remembered for his integrity, generosity, love of family, and the countless people and causes he supported, which will continue to make an impact long beyond his lifetime.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, at 9:30 a.m. in the Lawrence S. Pidgeon Sanctuary at Temple Solel in Cardiff-by-the-Sea. A burial service will follow at 11 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold's honor to the Seacrest Foundation or Temple Solel are appreciated.
