Albert Martin Erdahl Jr.

Albert Martin Erdahl Jr., (Al) age 91, of Hopkins, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. He was born on May 12, 1934, in Rake, Iowa, the seventh and youngest child of Albert Sr. and Amanda (Gunderson) Erdahl.

When Al was a baby, the family moved to Forest City, Iowa. After graduating from Forest City High School, he attended Waldorf College in Forest City, graduating just like his six siblings had. After serving in the US Army, Al graduated from the University of Iowa.

In 1959, Al moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota to work for Farmers Insurance Group. After a couple of years, he partnered with Harry Fuller to create their own agency as independent claims adjustors. Fuller & Erdahl Company lasted over 40 years until Al's retirement.

On June 5, 1965, Al married Marna Sheller, who had been a classmate through high school in Forest City. They settled in Hopkins and had two sons, Mark and Dean. Mark's son Everett is their one grandchild.

Al loved making things. He enjoyed helping Marna with her crafts and collecting antique toys and model trains. He owned a cabin on Lake of the Woods for 70 years, where he loved to spend time creating projects, hunting, fishing, and putting up bluebird houses. He was a devoted caregiver to Marna when she developed Alzheimer's several years before her death in 2009.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Glenn of Hopkins Senior Living Community, where Al had been a resident since 2018.

Al is survived by sons Mark (former spouse Tia Karelson) and Dean and grandson Everett. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clemens (Mary Lou), Wallace (Miriam) and Elton (Orpha), sisters Grace (John) Mickelson, Marvel (Gary) Sheller and Emily (John) Duxbury, and beloved wife of 44 years, Marna.
