Harold Pleas Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jan. 30, 2025.
On Thursday, January 23, 2025. God sent His angels to the home of Harold Gene Pleas Sr., to wrap their arms around him and gently escort him to his heavenly home. Harold, lovingly known as "Harry" was born July 13, 1952, a son of Henderson and Ola Bronson Pleas.
Harold was a 1970 graduate of South High School and obtained an associate degree in applied science from Youngstown State University. He dedicated many years of his life to the manufacturing industry, working at Ravenna Aluminum, where he was a respected member of his team before retiring due to declining health.
Harold was not only known for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant spirit and love for sports. His athletic journey began with the little football league at the McGuffey Center and flourished as he donned the uniform of South High School's football team. A devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns, his loyalty went beyond sports-he instilled the same passion in the youth he mentored through coaching and support of their endeavors.
Music was another of Harold's joys, as he reveled in the sounds of smooth jazz, R&B, hip hop and live performances. Whether relaxing at Jazz in the Park, enjoying live concerts like the Average White Band or relishing tunes in the comfort of his home, music served as a backdrop to some of his happiest moments. His favorite pastimes also included casting a line to catch fish and landscaping projects.
In his spirit of generosity, Harold touched the lives of many, inspiring younger generations through his encouragement, kindness, and unwavering support. Through his charm, intellect, and athleticism he touched lives of the family's youth who participated in sports through his coaching, encouragement, and attendance at their sporting events.
Harold's greatest treasure was his family. He shared and cherished an enduring bond with his beloved wife, Loretta Pleas, whom he stood by as a true partner and infinite foundation of support for over twenty-six years. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Besides his loving wife, Harold entrusts his legacy to his son Harold (Brandi) Gene Pleas II from a prior marriage and his amazing grandson Harold Gene Pleas III. Precious memories will be retained by his sister Essie Winkfield and an abundance of beloved nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
As Harold crossed the celestial sands into eternity, he was reunited with his parents and his siblings Anne Pleas-Cobbin, Juanita Warren, and Edward Pleas each who preceded him in death.
A Memorial Service will be held in honor of Harold on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Price Memorial AME Zion, 920 Dryden Ave, where Rev. Lewis Macklin will be the celebrant. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate his remarkable life and the legacy he leaves behind.
As we gather to remember Harold, we are reminded of his infectious charm, intellect, and athletic ability. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his spirit continue to inspire and his memory live on in our hearts.
At this time of intimate need and personal loss, the beloved family Harold Gene Pleas Sr. elected to entrust the Ministry of Comfort & Care, along with Transitional After-Care Arrangements to the J. E. Washington Funeral Services, 2234 Glenwood Ave., Youngstown OH 330.782.8500. Send flowers to the service of Harold Gene Pleas Sr.
