Harold Saranthus Sr.,85, of Chunchula, AL passed away August 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by loved ones.

Harold was born on December 17,1939 to Bessie Mae and Roy Saranthus in Mobile, AL. Harold served in the U.S. Marines and later retired from Illinois Central Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie Mae and Roy Saranthus; his son, Harold Saranthus Jr.; two sisters, Bessie Janice Jackson and Mittie Laverne Saranthus; five brothers, JB, Walter, Algene, Pete and Charles.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years Carolyn; his daughters, Tina Rylee, Leigh Ann (Brad) Ward; his son, Kenneth (Carrie) Saranthus; daughter-in-law, Charlene Saranthus and an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 6, 2025, at Valhalla Memorial Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. followed by a graveside service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Life Church Missions 8701 Zeigler Blvd 36608.
