Harold Schneider Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parker-Millard Funeral Service and Crematory - Columbia on Mar. 17, 2026.
Harold Ellis Schneider, 93, was born October, 26, 1932 and passed away March 10, 2026. He was born in the Sturgeon, Missouri area and around 1940 moved with his parents, Charles P. and Alpha Schneider, and younger sister Sara to a farm near Santa Fe, Missouri. He graduated from Paris Missouri high school and attended the University of Missouri. After marriage to Joyce Annette Bergthold on August 7, 1951, Harold was employed at A.P. Green Refractories in Mexico, Missouri for 43 years.

Harold had great appreciation of the natural world and was a lifelong supporter of the conservation and preservation of wildlife habitat. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, grandchildren and sons-in-law for more than 50 years and hunted deer and other game in Missouri as well as prairie chickens in Kansas and Nebraska. He was a great story-teller and had a dry, and sometimes wicked, sense of humor. One of his favorite activities was getting together with family to eat the catfish caught on one of many fishing trips and then judging which homemade pie was the best. He also loved "weiner roasts" on holidays or beautiful autumn evenings.

Harold is survived by three daughters: Debra Harting and husband Steve of Columbia, Susan Heuer and husband Ron of Columbia and Sandra Jackson and husband Curt of Mexico. Grandchildren include Justin Wilson and wife Shelly, Christopher Wilson, Catherine Wilson and husband Bruce Topping, Natalie Kosky and husband Tom, Julie Cooksey and husband Shawn, Jill Jackson, Christine Harper, Shannon Jackson and wife Chella, and Ryan Jackson and wife Tammy Stuckenschneider. Fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren also survive as well several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were wife, Joyce and his sister, Sara.

A family Celebration of Life is scheduled in the near future with Parker-Millard of Columbia in charge of arrangements.
