Harold E. Slaughter, Jr., 79, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was born on May 10, 1946, in Floyd Co., IN to Harold Sr. and Virginia Slaughter.

Harold proudly served and protected our country as a Sergeant in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a true cowboy at heart and enjoyed playing cards, gardening, woodworking, hunting, and attending the Jamboree in Corydon, IN. He loved country line dancing and was an instructor for some years. Harold was also a collector, model cars and "Chicken on a Nest" candy dishes were among his collections. He was a welder for the railroad and a member of Charity Baptist Church in New Salisbury, Indiana.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents, Harold E. Slaughter Sr. and Virginia Sullivan Slaughter; his wife Sandra Woods Slaughter; and granddaughter, Ashley Chapman. The family left to celebrate Harold's life are his daughter, Angela Salazar (Manuel Sr.); grandchildren, Katelynn Herron (David), Manuel Jr., Isaiah, Kendra, Jesus, and Aysha Salazar; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis and Paul Slaughter; sister, Rita Grut.

The visitation will be held on Sunday, March 15, from 4-8 pm and Monday, March 16, from 9-11 am, with the funeral ceremony beginning at 11 am. All services will be held at Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home, 1119 E. Market Street, New Albany, IN., 47150. Following services, burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Utica, IN. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Charity Baptist Church, 11520 136, New Salisbury, IN 47161.
