Harold Edward Stangle
Harold, age 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on January 1, 1939, in
Butternut, Wisconsin, Harold lived a life shaped by patience, creativity, and quiet generosity. He was rarely seen without sawdust on his clothes or a pencil tucked behind his ear. A skilled woodworker, Dad found deep satisfaction in shaping raw wood into something useful and enduring. Many family members were fortunate to receive pieces made by his hands-each a reminder of his craftsmanship and generous spirit.
Music was another lifelong passion for Hal. Together with his wife, Mary, they founded the Mary Kay Trio, where he played guitar and sang, delighting audiences with polkas, country music, and classic standards at weddings, parties, and dances. He loved performing for others, as much as playing for his own enjoyment, and his love of music-and his constant encouragement-led all four of his daughters to learn an instrument.
He was also an avid gardener who took special pride in his vegetable garden. From starting seedlings indoors in late winter to tending them throughout the summer and bringing in the harvest, gardening gave him both a deep sense of accomplishment and a generous source of sustenance. Many summer meals revolved around the bounty of tomatoes and cucumbers.
Above all, Dad was a devoted husband, father, and Pop Pop, known for his constant presence, gentle humor, and willingness to help without being asked. He taught by example the value of hard work, patience, and creating things with care.
He is survived by his four loving daughters: Susan (Randy) Brown, Carol Stangle, Julie (Matt) Krinke, and Kathleen (Greg) De Boer; and his nine cherished grandchildren: Rachel, Sydney (Joey), Lauren, Helen (Brenden), Cameron (Sadie), Ethan, Jackson (Natalie), Camille, and Jessica.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary; his parents, Henry and Anna Stangle; and his sister, Doris Stangle.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 20, at St. James Catholic Church, 830 E. Veterans Way, Mukwonago, from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Waukesha.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you simply plant cucumbers and/or tomatoes this summer and share the bounty with others.
"Dad, you will be deeply missed and fondly remembered."
