Judith Lois (Shank) Stangle, age 81, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital. Born in Erie on December 26, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Bernice (Linn) Shank.

Judy graduated from North East High School in 1962 and from Bryant & Stratton College with an associate's degree in secretarial sciences. She started as a secretary at General Electric where she met her husband, David. After staying at home to raise her family she worked at Lawrence Park Christian Missionary Alliance Church as a secretary and then at the East Lake Road Alliance Church. She loved to travel overseas, take bus tours, attend dinner theater shows, country line dancing, and visited the Erie Zoo on a regular basis. She will be remembered for her lively and upbeat spirit.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Stangle; her daughter, Lydia Lynnae Rhodes; a brother, Walter Shank; and two sisters, Jean Lindberg and Joanne Shank.

Survivors include a son, Derek Stangle, wife Debbi; a sister, Janice Seaman; a brother, Blair Shank, wife Janet; a son-in-law, Donnie Rhodes; a sister-in-law, Sonja Toner; two granddaughters, Christina (Chad) and Adrienne; two great-grandsons, Brodie and Tanner; and many nieces and nephews.

Burial at North East Cemetery was private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Erie Zoological Society, 423 West 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
