Harold N. Taylor

Harold N. Taylor, a cherished pillar of the Greenville community, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2024, at the age of 92, in the very city where his story began, Greenville, SC. Born on November 16, 1931, Harold's life was characterized by his unwavering faith, his love for family, and his passion for the great outdoors.

Harold is survived by his devoted wife of over 44 years, Linda Taylor, who stood by his side as a beacon of love and support. Together, they raised a legacy of children who will continue to honor his memory: sons Thomas and Richard Taylor, daughters Kimberly C. Romine and Sandra J. Taylor, and sons Donald J. Taylor Sr., William M. Taylor, Johnny Nalley, and Daniel Nalley. Harold was predeceased by his mother Ruby (Chubby) Stout, his daughter Ruby (Margie) Nix and Sally Renee Taylor, and his sons Timothy David Taylor, James Robert Taylor, and Donald J. Taylor, Jr.

Harold's descendants include an impressive lineage of 68 grandchildren, 82 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, Abel True, each of whom will carry forward the values and traditions he instilled. Grandsons William R. Hester, Zac William Hester, and Jonathan R. Dickson will particularly cherish the life lessons and memories shared with their grandfather.

After dedicating four years to Bible College, Harold answered his calling to serve God and became a beloved Pastor, touching the lives of countless individuals through his ministry. His commitment to his faith was evident in every aspect of his life, and it was this dedication that earned him the respect and admiration of his congregation and community.

Harold's professional journey also included roles as a Security Officer and a Textile Technician, where his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor made him a well-respected colleague. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life was one of his most remarkable traits.

An avid outdoorsman, Harold found solace and joy in fishing and hunting, activities that not only brought him closer to nature but also provided cherished moments with family and friends. These pastimes were among his greatest pleasures in life, second only to his devotion to serving God. During the Korean War, Harold found himself a prisoner of war and was eventually awarded a purple heart. His bravery and courage was unmistakable through all his endeavors.

Harold was known for his loving heart, friendly smile, and generous spirit. He had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and his presence was a source of comfort and strength for many. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and compassion will endure.

A traditional service to honor Harold's life and faith will be held, where family, friends, and members of the community can gather to share memories and celebrate a life well lived. Harold N. Taylor's story is one of love, service, and unwavering faith—a story that will be told for generations to come. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we are reminded of the impact one life can have on so many, and we are grateful for the time we had with Harold, our beloved patriarch, mentor, and friend.
