On June 16, 1976, Pat married Theresa Kay Betz. Together they raised three daughters: Debbie Black of Vandalia, Lisa Perry of Moberty, and Carrie (Dan) Talley of Mexico. and five nephews. After high school, Pat entered the workforce as a mechanic, working for various implement dealers in the area. He was known for his mechanical knowledge and for always having a project underway in his shop. Farming and raising cattle were also important parts of his life, and he worked alongside his brother Tully for many years. As times changed, Pat transitioned to driving gravel and lime trucks. He leased on with Chester Bross and worked on the road for several years before eventually returning home to own and operate his own trucking company, proudly serving the
local community. Pat's true passion was truck and tractor pulling. Many late nights were spent tuning his Oliver or Allis Chalmers tractors so he could load them onto his two-ton Chevy C60 and head to the next pull. He competed for years on a modest budget, always focused on having fun. Later, he moved
into truck pulling, creating countless family memories by hauling the entire family along to events. His beloved truck, the "Brown Hound, remains in the family and, once restored, will continue on as
a legacy vehicle for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
If you knew Pat, you knew he was ornery, hard-headed, and always up for a good conversation. Known as the life of the party, his CB handle was "Good Time Charlie." Pat and Kay loved going out dancing and spending Saturday nights with friends. He will be remembered most for his playful
