Phyllis Ann Shively

Phyllis Shively (Carman), age 87, of Hunnewell, Missouri, passed away on February 10, 2026.

Phyllis was born in Monroe County, Missouri, to William "Mutt" Carman and Ethel Carman (Pierceall), both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Carman and John Carman.

On July 24,1956, Phyllis married Aubrey "Buddy" Shively, and together they shared a lifetime of love and devotion. Her love for Buddy was evident in everything she did, and their life together was the foundation of her family.

Phyllis was a devoted homemaker who took great pride in caring for her home and family. She was known for her attention to detail, her strong opinions, and her unmistakable presence. Phyllis loved gardening, mowing her yard, playing cards, and spending time with those she loved. Many will fondly remember her homemade strawberry jam, pumpkin bread, chocolate cream pie and rice crispy treats that became cherished family traditions. Phyllis loved her grandchildren very much and made afghans for all of her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Aubrey "Buddy" Shively; her children, Carmen (Tim) Brockmeier, Greg (Sharon) Shively, Beth (Dan) Harrison, and Mike (Tracy) Shively; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis will be remembered for her bold personality, fierce love for her family, and the care she poured into those around her. Her legacy lives on through the generations she raised and the memories shared around her table.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 14,2026 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri Fr. Kristopher Hoffman will officiate. Burial will follow at the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Monroe City, Missouri. Visitation will be from 9:00 am Saturday until time of services at the Holy Rosary Church. Active pallbeares will be Matthew Brockmeier, Ryan Brockmeier, Joseph Shively, David Shively, Jacob Harrison, Austin Harrison, Gage Shively and Dawson Shively. Honorary pallbearers will be Melissa Threkeld, Katie Schafroth, Audrey Sather, Sylvie Speaks and Samantha Bindi. Memorials have been suggested to the Holy Rosary School or the Monroe City Manor Ladies Auxiliary. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Garner Funeral Home & Chapel, Monroe City, Missouri.
