Following his retirement from the Armed Services, he dedicated himself to serving his community as former Chief and Emergency Medical Technician at the Silver Spring Ambulance & Rescue Association.

He was a lifetime member of Mechanicsburg VFW Post 6704, American Legion Post 109, and the Marine Corps League. He served as an Emeritus Member of the International Legion of Honor and actively participated in numerous fraternal organizations, including the Scottish Rite under the National Masonic Jurisdiction, the Valley of Reading, Williamson Lodge 307, Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg, and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Forest 43. He also held memberships in the West Shore Elks Lodge, Moose General Assembly, and the NRA.

Trauty cherished time spent celebrating special occasions and holidays with Family, vacationing with his wife Joellen on the beaches of South Carolina, visiting family and friends throughout the country, and hunting up-state with the boys.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Elaine (Schoener) Steinmetz, and daughter-in-law Lisa Meyer; grandsons Zachary Schoener and Scott Meyer; survived by his wife Joellen (Davis) Trautman; his children Harold Trautman, Ralph Trautman, Derrick Trautman, Jason Trautman, Janet Bolosan, Danny Meyer, Karyn Totty, and Chris Russell; seventeen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
