Anthony Richard Bucher, 68, of Lewisberry died Saturday, February 21, 2026 at his home following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s.
A 1975 graduate of Altoona Area High School, he received his associate’s degree from Penn State University. He was a retired Computer Programmer from Capital Blue Cross. Prior to Blue Cross, he worked for various banking institutions. He enjoyed travelling, especially cruising, having visited Italy, Nova Scotia, and Disney World many times, Anthony also enjoyed bowling, and cherished his late dogs, Gypsy Rose and Sprocket.
He was born October 27, 1957 in Altoona to the late Richard E. and Rita A. (Porta) Bucher. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Benson.
He met his husband, Jerry Groft in January of 1995 in Spring Grove and they were married August 8th, 2013 in Nova Scotia.
In addition to his husband, he is survived by his sister, Catherine Bradfield (Larry) of Altoona, and brother, Tom J. Bucher, (Angela) also of Altoona; several nieces and nephews; and his special friends from his hometown, Becky, Sue, MaryAnn, and Vicky.
