Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. - West ReadingDavid H. Charlton, of Wyomissing, PA passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Reading Hospital at the age of 84, surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 8th, 1941, in Wyomissing, PA, to Donald and Miriam (Henninger) Charlton. David graduated from Wyomissing High School, Class of 1959. He was a member of the 1956 undefeated Wyomissing High Championship Football Team. David attended Pennsylvania State University. David had a 43-year tenured career with International Paper. He married Marcia Ganster on August 1, 1964, and together they shared 62 years of marriage rooted in faith and love. David loved watching Penn State Football, the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies, playing golf, traveling with friends, Wyomissing 4th of July parades, and spending time with his family who he loved and was very proud of. David was a longstanding parishioner of St. Ignatius Loyola Church. In addition to his spouse, David is survived by his children: Donald Charlton, husband of Lynn, of Berwyn, PA; and Kimberly, wife of Thomas Carroll, of Media, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Emma, wife of Kees Elling, of Frankfurt, DE; Sam Charlton, husband of Erin, of Broomall, PA; Megan Carroll of Charleston, SC; Thomas Carroll of Philadelphia, PA; and one great grandchild Harriet ("Hattie") Elling of Frankfurt, DE who all fondly called him G-Pa. David was predeceased by his sister, Carol Eaken Derr.
A visitation will be held on Friday March 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2600 St Albans Drive, Reading, PA 19609. Words of remembrance by the family will start at 11:00 am, and a Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Burial will take place at Gethsemane Cemetery following Mass.
