Harold "Hal" Tune, 85, of Stuart, Florida passed away on May 6, 2025. Born December 1, 1939, in Owensboro, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Harold Noble Tune and Clara Keene Tune.
Hal led a distinguished life marked by adventurous service, impactful global leadership, and entrepreneurial vision. A graduate of Castle Heights Military Academy, he furthered his education at the University of Arizona, American Graduate School of Management, and completed executive studies at the Harvard Business School. He also attended Owensboro Senior High and Kentucky Wesleyan College and was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
His military service was both elite and exemplary-he was a member of the U.S. Navy UDT/SEAL class 29 in Coronado and served in the U.S. Army's 1st Special Forces Airborne in Okinawa.
A proud veteran, Hal found deep meaning in serving his country and carried that pride throughout his life. His time in the military forged lasting bonds, and he remained close with many of his fellow servicemen, treasuring those deep, long-standing friendships.
Professionally, Hal's career spanned continents and industries. He served as District Manager for Texaco Africa Ltd in Burundi, Rwanda, and the Congo; Director of International Marketing at Sprague Textron; and Director of International Development at Textron Inc., with postings in Athens, Greece, and Singapore. Notably, he founded and served as president of Swatch Japan KK in Tokyo, playing a key role in Swatch's entry into the Japanese market. He also founded Jacaranda, a gift and decorative accessory manufacturer representative group based in Los Angeles.
In his later years, he focused on commercial real estate management in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Hal had a lifelong passion for travel, spending several months each year exploring destinations around the globe. His love of discovering new cultures and experiences brought him great joy and enriched his life in countless ways.
He is survived by his brother, Albert Tune (Christine); his sister, Jane Tune Lovely; niece, Cynthia Lovely; nephew, Charles Lovely (Farah); and first cousins once removed, Kimberly Laurin and Tiffany Laurin Hendrick, as well as his cherished friends.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at Elmwood Cemetery in Owensboro. Arrangements are under the care of James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory, Owensboro, Kentucky.
Memorial contributions may be made in Hal's honor to The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, 3300 N. Highway A1A, North Hutchinson Island, Fort Pierce, FL 34949.
