Obituary
Harriet Paula Diaz, 72, of Middletown, beloved wife of Nestor Diaz, passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2023.
Born in Manhattan, NY, she was a Middletown resident for over 30 years. Harriet had a strong Christian faith and believed that God could be seen in all the beauty that surrounds us. She was a member of Wellspring Church in Kensington, CT where she enjoyed listening to Christian music and the words of the Lord. Through her various volunteer work, she felt her true purpose was met when she was able to help those in need whether it be caring for elderly or making care packages for those without shelter.
Harriet loved all of God's creatures. She loved her cats, dogs, and bird. She was also very creative and loved sharing her talents of painting, jewelry making, knitting, and crocheting with her grandchildren.
Surviving her are her husband, Nestor Diaz; her daughter, Vanessa Aquino and her husband Aric; her son, Nestor Diaz Jr.; her two sisters, Debbie Colon and Rebecca Delio; her grandchildren; Jaseyanna, Jawon, Jade, Jazlynn, Chavonne, Isabella, Arianna, and Alina, and her one great-grandchild Rhyleigh. She was predeceased by her brother John Zammit and her sister Elaine Romberg.
A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 1pm until the time of the service at Wellspring Church, 222 Lincoln Street, Kensington. Funeral services will directly follow the viewing at 2pm. Burial will be in Swedish Cemetery, Portland. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Humane Society on Harriet's behalf.
