Harriet Dunne Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Levitt-Weinstein Blasberg, Rubin-Zilbert Memorial Chapels on Mar. 30, 2026.
Harriet Shaktman Dunne, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by the love of her family. Harriet was born on August 18, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rooted deeply in her Jewish faith and traditions, Harriet lived a life guided by compassion, generosity, and a commitment to tikkun olam-repairing the world.

Harriet was the devoted wife of Barry Dunne, with whom she shared a 35-year loving marriage until his passing in 2011. Their partnership was filled with warmth, humor, and a shared dedication to family and community.

She is survived by her three children: her son Brett Dunne, married to Tanya, and their children Garrett, Austin, Raina, Shaye, and Juliette; her son Jeremy Dunne, married to Lynsay, and their daughter Hana; and her daughter Allison Dunne. Harriet's grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she embraced every moment with them.

After settling in Miami Beach, Harriet became a beloved and influential presence in the

community. She was active in the PTA and proudly served as a band parent. She volunteered with the "Listen to the Children" program through Dade County Mental Health, supported Little League Football, and worked with the North Shore Optimist Club, among numerous other programs that benefitted children. Harriet's commitment to young people extended far beyond organized roles-her home was a haven. She welcomed children in need with open arms, offering them a safe space for a day, a week, a year, or as long as they needed.

Harriet's life was a testament to kindness, service, and the values she cherished within her Jewish heritage. May her memory be a blessing.
