Harriet Agnes Larson (1938-2024)
Harriet A. Larson, age 86 of Lake City FL, passed away comfortably and peacefully at her home with her family on Thursday, 26 September 2024. Harriet was born on February 26, 1938, in Walden NY to Raymond Dubois and Hazel Berthene Eckler. Her mother and siblings later moved to Maimi, FL and her mother was remarried to George Hedrick. She was the beloved mother of Catherine L. Maples, James W. Larson, Edwin B. Larson, and Pamela J. Taylor. Harriet went to middle and high school in Miami, FL. She then married James F. Larson on 16 April 1956, and they began a military life in the US Air Force. Some of their assignments included Castle Air Force Base (AFB) CA; Ramey AFB PR; Kadena AFB Okinawa, Japan; Homestead AFB FL; and Minot AFB ND. After retiring in 1976, they moved to Lake City, FL.
Harriet's employment history included a brief time with ABC Liquor, but her longest and most significant employment was with the Lake City Walmart Store. Some of her Walmart accomplishments include: In Feb 1995, she was recognized for exceeding high levels of performance and achievement for the benefit and continued success of Walmart, Inc. In Sep 1998, she was recognized as an employee with 5 years of continuous service. She received a certificate for being recognized as the "Best All Around Cashier". In 2000, she received a certificate for being a "Four Time Great Job Award winner." With that recognition, she was awarded shares of Walmart stock by the Regional Vice President. In Dec 2003, she was recognized as an employee with 10 years of continuous service. The Walmart employees have continued to recognize her value to the Walmart store whenever she visited the store after her retirement.
She loved the Lord and was a member of Gateway Baptist Church, Lake City FL. She was a dedicated participant in Sunday School, church events, and with the "Daughters of the King." Some of her interests and hobbies included crafting, crocheting, baking, and painting. She loved to celebrate each holiday with crafts and decorations. She was a collector and has an extensive amount of Campbells Soup memorabilia. She was sassy, funny, loved to laugh at herself, and loved spending time with her family. Her family and friends always looked forward to receiving a call from Harriet on their birthday, when she would sing them a very enthusiastic happy birthday song.
Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beverly Hale, her sister Wanda Maso, and her beloved daughter Catherine L. Maples. She is survived by her sister Bonnie DiFranco and husband John; son James W. Larson and wife Connie; son Edwin B. Larson and wife Peanutt; daughter Pamela J.
